S&Y provides bookkeeping, payroll, and QuickBooks services to small businesses throughout the United States. In addition, S&Y provides "back office" assistance to Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Public Bookkeeper (CPB), and Enrolled Agent (EA) firms and other accounting, bookkeeping, and tax businesses.

Smith & Young Internship Program
S&Y developed our internship program to apply SYU graduates' knowledge and skills in an on–the-job training environment using S&Y's highly efficient proprietary bookkeeping system. This system incorporates today's leading bookkeeping technology and software. Interns perform bookkeeping procedures with QuickBooks financial software for actual S&Y clients.

Supervision
S&Y professional personnel supervise Interns to insure Interns perform bookkeeping procedures accurately and productively and prepare timely, relevant, and reliable financial information.

Review
S&Y managers review bookkeeping procedures performed by Interns and provide Interns "review points". Review points are a list of constructive comments made by management to help the Intern perform bookkeeping more accurately and productively. Interns "clear" the comments by noting or implementing the management comments. Review points generally include: corrections (such as invoice or check Chart of Account misclassification), FYI (For Your Information) tips, or efficiency tips.

Overview

The S&Y Internship program is a four week program as follows:

S&Y Internship

1. Serve as S&Y Paraprofessional personnel
2. Receive S&Y client assignment via S&Y's Internet based Bookkeeping WorkFlow software
3. Perform S&Y client bookkeeping procedures via QuickBooks hosted software and checklists
4. S&Y Professional supervises completed procedures
5. S&Y Manager reviews and provides Paraprofessional review points
6. Paraprofessional clears Manager review points

Internship Requirements

1. Prospective Interns must have completed SYU Bookkeeping Training and Certification and QuickBooks Training and Certification programs.
2. Computer with High Speed Internet Access
3. Commit 2 hours per day (M–F)
